Presentation
- CROME’s objective is to produce a history of the memory of the colonial and liberation wars fought between the Portuguese state and African independence movements. The project seeks to comprehend how the memory of these wars progressed and was reconfigured between the independence of these African countries and today.
- The project adopts a comparative perspective based on research to be developed in six national contexts.
- CROME follows a tripartite empirical approach that examines the production of memories of war in the former colonial power, in the territories where the war was fought and in others where, although conflict did not occur, anticolonial language was central in the national narrative.
